Review – Kinbaku Society of Berlin – Issue 5

The 5th issue of Kinbaku Society of Berlin, representing , in these seasonal instalments, the thoughts, writings, poetry and art of Kinbaku across the previous 3 months. Written during the pandemic Issue #5 discusses the topic of transition, particularly fitting for the Autumn edition

Issue 5 opens with the all familiar editorial from Alexander, introducing the idea of transition, the adaptability of human nature and the challenged that transitions can force us to face into.

“A Debt Repaid” the title of a scene description by Saara Rei, a strong and detailed narrative accompanied by some beautiful photography, written in the first person but with the ambiguity to leave the reader intrigued as to whether this is real or fantasy, irrespective it is a beautiful journey.

A powerful perspectives from Natasha Nawateneko on personal vulnerability and resilience, important skill in the context of the global pandemic and accommodating to huge changes in how we can interact with each other. This piece leaves a lasting comment of “this too shall pass” a equally reassuring and foreboding statement of the fragility and instability of life.

The centrefold is dedicated to the beautiful creations of one of the worlds most accomplished rope couples, Riccardo WildTies and Red Sabbath. Captured are some amazing rope scenes that are inspire and delight, alongside an introspective writing from Riccardo.

Wkyd Dave contributes again from his wealth of knowledge and experience, this time with a reassuring and reflective piece on progress, it is with a sense humility that we gain a window into an extensive exploration of the ups and downs of a personal rope journey.

Rounding off this issue is a short story “Selene” by Kaley, embellished with photographs this story tells the transition of a career women delving into her self indulgent depravity, and exceptional way to round off another wonderful issue.
